David Hayes, MD

David Hayes is an Ob/Gyn with an academic background and a passion for science and its proper application to clinical medicine. He has worked for Médecins Sans Frontières and trained in critical care obstetrics. Physiologic breech birth and supporting the training of breech birth attendants are particular interests of his.


Betty-Anne Daviss

Betty-Anne Daviss, RM has been a midwife for 45 years on various continents, and a researcher in the social sciences and clinical epidemiology for 30.

She has privileges to manage vaginal breech deliveries as a primary care provider at l'Hôpital Montfort in Ottawa. She joined the Frankfurt team of breech pratitioners in 2008 and has done breech research from 2008 to the present there. In 2013 she introduced a new technique to retrieve the aftercoming head in the vaginal breech to avoid forceps.


Rixa Freeze, PhD Virtual instructor

Rixa Freeze has a PhD from the University of Iowa and is a researcher, professor, and mother of 4 young children. Her current research specialization is vaginal breech birth. She is the founder of Breech Without Borders, a nonprofit dedicated to breech training, education, and advocacy. She blogs at Stand and Deliver.


Kristine Lauria, CPM virtual instructor

Kristine Lauria, midwife, works for Médecins Sans Frontières and became BWB’s Global Midwifery Director in 2022. She specializes in high-risk maternity care in low-resource environments and is passionate in her support of bodily autonomy in medical decision making and is a staunch advocate for undisturbed, physiologic birth. She has attended over 5000 births in more than 25 countries around the world, among them being over 500 vaginal breech births, including sets of twins and triplets. She is the creator and instructor of BWB’s Master Class on breech & twins, as well as an instructor for our vaginal breech workshops.

What is your cancellation policy?
If you are called away to a birth or family emergency on the day of the workshop and cannot reschedule your workshop day, you will receive 2 month's virtual access to the activity station materials (preferred) or $100 USD.
Otherwise workshop tickets are nonrefundable.

Do you offer CEUs?
The full workshop includes a total of 23.5 contact hours with ACNM, with reciprocity with MEAC, DONA, & ICEA (14.5 CE for Breech Pro, 9 CEs for hands-on).
