Galicia Breech Training

We are excited to offer a vaginal breech workshop in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia, Spain!

About the breech workshop:

This training combines virtual lectures with a full day of hands-on simulation training. The breech training package includes:

A full day of hands-on training with Rixa Freeze, PhD, including simulation training with a Sophie and Her Mum simulator, breech birth video analysis, and clinical scenarios.
Breech Pro: a self-paced vaginal breech training workshop with CEUs, accessible for 1 year. Access to Breech Pro is included with workshop enrollment.
One year of twice-monthly optional live sessions (recordings also provided)

Event Schedule:
Monday, April 29

Breech workshop cost:
€400 for MDs
€350 for midwives, nurses, and other childbirth professionals
€275 for students

Breech Pro alum pricing:
€200: full day workshop (for those with current Breech Pro enrollment)
€250: full day workshop + Breech Pro renewal (1 year)

Registration deadline: March 29 (before incurring late fee)

Late registrations will be charged an additional €40 for the breech workshop.

Instructors

Rixa Freeze, PhD

Rixa Freeze has a PhD from the University of Iowa and is a researcher, professor, and mother of 4 young children. Her current research specialization is vaginal breech birth. She is the founder of Breech Without Borders, a nonprofit dedicated to breech training, education, and advocacy. She blogs at Stand and Deliver.

Kristine Lauria, CPM virtual instructor

Kristine Lauria, midwife, works for Médecins Sans Frontières and became BWB’s Global Midwifery Director in 2022. She has attended over 5000 births in more than 25 countries around the world, including 520 vaginal breech births, 419 sets of vaginal twins, and 8 sets of vaginal triplets. She is the creator and instructor of BWB’s Master Class on breech & twins.

David Hayes, MD virtual instructor

David Hayes is an Ob/Gyn with an academic background and a passion for science and its proper application to clinical medicine. He has worked for Médecins Sans Frontières and trained in critical care obstetrics. Physiologic breech birth and supporting the training of breech birth attendants are particular interests of his.

FAQs

What is your cancellation policy?
If you are called away to a birth or family emergency on the day of the workshop and cannot reschedule your breech workshop day, you will receive 2 month's virtual access to the activity station materials (preferred) or €100 refund. If you miss the Master Class, you will be scheduled for a future virtual master class presentation with Kristine Lauria.

Otherwise workshop tickets are nonrefundable.

Do I need to be enrolled in Breech Pro to attend the workshop?
Yes. All registrants to our in-person workshops are required to have a current Breech Pro enrollment. Your workshop registration includes enrollment in or renewal of Breech Pro.

Do I have to complete Breech Pro prior to the workshop?
Yes, you must have completed 100% of Breech Pro to be admitted on your hands-on training day. You will be asked to show your certificate of completion (downloadable upon finishing the course). If you have not completed the course, you will not be allowed to attend the hands-on training and you will not receive a refund on any portion of the training.

How long will I have access to Breech Pro?
You will have 1 year's access from the date of registering, if you are enrolling for the first time. If you are renewing Breech Pro, you will have your access extended for 1 additional year.

Is there a deadline to register?
We accept late registrations. However, there will be an additional charge if registering after the cut-off date 4 weeks prior to the event.

What are your COVID-19 guidelines?

Do you offer continuing education credits?
The breech workshop includes a total of 23.5 contact hours with ACNM, with reciprocity with MEAC, DONA, & ICEA (14.5 CE for Breech Pro, 9 CEs for hands-on). The Master Class includes 7 ACNM CEs.

This training is also approved by the Australia College of Midwives and the Midwifery Council of New Zealand. For RANZCOG members, participants may claim 14 hours for Breech Pro, 9 hours for the breech workshop, and 7 hours for the Master Class.

Breech Pro Completion Information:

All attendees will be required to present their certificate of completion of the online course, Breech Pro, in order to attend the hand-on training. Those who cannot provide either a printed or digital copy of their certificate will not be able to enter the training. No refunds will be provided if unable to attend unless previous communication and approval has occurred.
